On the Road Again

What better way to enjoy the ferry ride home in high seas than to surf it on in?

After a good round of surfing, apparently you can sleep anywhere and in any position, no matter how uncomfortable....

After lunch, or was it dinner? maybe linner (in our house, this is the meal between lunch and dinner)? the quest for crabs and tide pools began

Water Park Fun

Wind was finally up, daddy out for some serious self abuse. Too much sand in the eyes for the boyz so we ran to the refuge of a nearby water park. Pictured above was the lagoon..one part of the park, although it was big enough to be it's own park...

"pucker up!"

Imagine the fun with the nice little lagoon turned into a wave pool..oh yeah!

Dolphin Day

Cap'n Jer and Tahlia take the helm for the USS Dolphin. It were a clear day on ye horizon. Cap'n Alemayehu had some green gills but soon perked up..

The kids grew excited as we saw some water churning up ahead...a dolphin feeding frenzy. And they were ready for a bit of excitement. As soon as they saw the ship they would turn and swim toward us and then surf the waves. So much fun to watch. The crazy thing is that there was so many... hundreds. It was amazing to watch!

Dolphins coming in for a surf session

I always thought it would be great to be a bird, but after watching the dolphins for awhile, I think I have changed my mind!

Mount Teide

Mt. Teide

Shut out from a tram ride to the top of Mt Teide due to high winds, we take a stroll in the surrounding moonscape. Mt. Teide is the third largest volcano in the world-on a volcanic island, and rises to 12,198 ft. It last erupted in 1909.

Arrival in Tenerife! Known for wind surfing and kite boarding, and of course sand hucking!

After a few minutes of observing the kite surfers, it wasn't long before daddy disappeared to start planning how he could his hands on one of these things!

Canary Islands-Last Day in Grand Canaria

On the way back from one of our excursions, we had chanced upon a cactus refuge boasting Europe's largest collection of cacti... unfortunately closed on our initial pass, it was a bit too enticing not to check out more thoroughly...so back we went..

and a very impressive assortment of cacti, many in bloom. My excuse for the plethora of pictures I took of them..

back out of cactus land, last stop local beach off the beaten track. Tenerife's volcano in the distance..

after which we enjoyed a typical canarian meal of papas arrugadas or "wrinkled potatoes" with mojo sauce, roasted peppers, and assorted tapas. Yum Yum!
